Hello commanders,
One of the most common questions reaching our support desk is this:
"Where do I colonise to get the biggest planets?" Let's take the
guesswork out of it. Here is the full table.
A colony's field count is decided by the position you settle. Every
position has its own range, and the actual value is drawn randomly from
that range. Once the planet is created, the field count is locked in.
Position 1: 144 - 258 fields, max temperature 220 to 260 °C
Position 2: 156 - 264 fields, max temperature 170 to 210 °C
Position 3: 168 - 273 fields, max temperature 120 to 160 °C
Position 4: 177 - 312 fields, max temperature 70 to 110 °C
Position 5: 200 - 348 fields, max temperature 60 to 100 °C
Position 6: 219 - 363 fields, max temperature 50 to 90 °C
★ Position 7: 228 - 372 fields, max temperature 40 to 80 °C
★ Position 8: 234 - 378 fields, max temperature 30 to 70 °C
★ Position 9: 225 - 369 fields, max temperature 20 to 60 °C
Position 10: 213 - 348 fields, max temperature 10 to 50 °C
Position 11: 204 - 315 fields, max temperature 0 to 40 °C
Position 12: 188 - 279 fields, max temperature -10 to 30 °C
Position 13: 171 - 258 fields, max temperature -50 to -10 °C
Position 14: 150 - 252 fields, max temperature -90 to -50 °C
Position 15: 135 - 246 fields, max temperature -130 to -90 °C
The three starred positions give the largest planets, and position 8 is
the peak. Minimum temperature is always 40 degrees below the maximum.
TWO BONUSES THAT MAKE PLANETS BIGGER
• The Discoverer class adds +10% fields to every new colony you found.
• The Researchers alliance class adds a further +5% on top.
Both are calculated at the moment the planet is created and they do not
apply retroactively. With both active, the upper limit on position 8
reaches 436 fields. If you are aiming for the largest possible account,
pick your class before you found your first colonies.
SIZE IS NOT THE WHOLE STORY
Temperature affects production directly:
• Deuterium output rises as the planet gets colder. Positions 13, 14
and 15 may be small, but they are by far your best deuterium worlds.
• Solar satellites work the other way around and produce far more
energy on hot planets, which is where the early positions shine.
A balanced setup is to found most of your colonies between positions 7
and 9, and reserve one or two cold positions for deuterium.
ONE NOTE
Planet size tables you find elsewhere online are based on classic OGame
servers and show smaller numbers. Planets on OGameXL are 50% larger.
